Islamic Wheaton College associate professor Larycia Hawkins - Wheaton College begins talks to dissolve Chicago professor's tenure for expressing solidarity with Muslims (A college with balls, thank the Lord and Allah!)

DECLARE ISLAM AN ENEMY OF THE STATE & THE WORLD

A political science professor’s job at a faith-based university in Chicago is in jeopardy after she wore a hijab and posted messages of solidarity with Muslims.

The provost of a Wheaton College has recommended Larycia Hawkins lose her tenured position for comparing Islam to Christianity.k

The administration believes her Facebook posts conflicted with the evangelical Christian school’s religious convictions, especially when Hawkins stated Christians and Muslims “worship the same God.”

Hawkins and Wheaton College reached an impasse in theological discussions, leading to the next step debating whether Hawkins should be allowed to teach U.S. government, religion and policy. Hawkins allegedly declined to discuss her religious views further.

Her fate will be decided within 30 days by the Wheaton College Board of Trustees, who will hear the findings of nine members of the Faculty Personnel Committee.

“The Notice is not a termination,” Wheaton College officials wrote in a statement. “It begins Wheaton College’s established process for employment actions pertaining to tenured faculty members.”

The 43-year-old professor wore a hijab during the holidays as a sign of solidarity with Muslims as criticism rose following the terrorist attacks in Paris and San Bernardino. The school claims the headscarf had no impact in its position against Hawkins, but her messages did.

“I stand in human solidarity with my Muslim neighbor,” wrote Hawkins in one message.

“I stand in religious solidarity with Muslims because they, like me, a Christian, are people of the book,” she said in another Facebook post.

She has been on administrative leave since Dec. 15, a decision that is expected to last through the spring semester.
