Chicago Feral Negroes Cortez Heard, 18 and Deqwan Kidd, 22, face charges after fleeing from police, crashing car into Evanston restaurant

EVANSTON IL - Two Chicago men are facing multiple charges after speeding away from an attempted traffic stop, striking another a vehicle and then crashing into an Evanston restaurant on Friday, police said.

The driver, Cortez Heard, 18, of the 3100 block of W. Fulton, was charged with felony fleeing and eluding, driving while under the influence, and numerous traffic violations, police said.

Passengerr Deqwan Kidd, 22, of the 7000 block of North Paulina Street, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and no valid Illinois firearms owner identification card, police said.

A 25-year-old Chicago woman, who was a rear-seat passenger in the vehicle, was not charged in the incident.

Officers recovered a handgun as well as a small amount of suspected marijuana from the vehicle, police said in the release.

Additionally, police dash-cam footage is being reviewed as part of the investigation and also to determine if the officer's actions were within department policy, police said.

Police said the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m., as an officer attempted to pull over the vehicle for a minor traffic violation near Ridge Avenue and Church Street.

The vehicle fled from the officer, collided with a car at the intersection of Davis Street and Sherman Avenue, and crashed into the window of the Freshii restaurant at 1569 Sherman Ave., police said in a release.
