Fatal Police Officer-involved shooting reported in Zion - Oh No! The colored folks will be protesting there next!

One dead person is in custody following what authorities said was an officer-involved shooting in Zion on Wednesday morning.

The police activity prompted nearby Zion Elementary School District 6 and Beach Park School District 3 to place schools on lockdown.

A police official said the Lake County Major Crime Task Force is on the scene in the 1800 block of Ezekiel Avenue. The Zion Fire Department reported it transported one victim from the shooting.

Zion Fire Department Battalion Chief Eric Troy said the person was taken to Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.

A woman who declined to be identified said she heard gunshots while inside her home between 8:30 and 8:40 a.m.
