 A recent report claims these Chicago suburbs are “the real pits.”


Researchers from RoadSnacks, a self-proclaimed infotainment website, ranked the 10 worst suburbs in the Chicago area. The list was compiled using categories including good education, lots of jobs, low crime, high incomes, high population density and nice homes, according to the survey. The suburbs that scored the lowest in each group made the list.

Harwood Heights was crowned the worst Chicago suburb, according to the report. The village, which is home to more than 8,000 people, did poorly in most categories.

The northwest suburb ranked the lowest in adjusted median income, which totaled to $41,565, according to RoadSnacks. Harwood Heights was also deemed as having the “second worst education scene for children.”
