Police are investigating the first reported shooting of 2016 in Elgin following an incident Thursday evening.
Officers were called about 8:30 p.m. to the 300 block of Dupage Street for a 55-year-old male victim, police said. The man told police he had been walking in the area when he was confronted by a man he did not know who struck him in the head with a handgun and then shot the victim in his arm.
The victim was taken to Presence Saint Joseph’s Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.
Detectives from the Elgin Police Department’s Major Investigations Division are conducting the investigation and ask anyone with information about the incident to contact the Elgin Police Department’s Major Investigations Division at 847-289-2600.
