At least four people were injured in Wednesday shootings on the West and North sides, Chicago police said.
In the latest shootings a male and female were injured in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said.
The two were outside of a store on the 500 block of South Kostner Avenue at 5:52 p.m., said Officer Michelle Tannehill.
The male and female, whose ages were not immediately available, were injured when someone was shooting at a passing vehicle and struck the two, said Tannehill.
The male was shot in the head and was taken to Stroger Hospital in grave condition and the female was shot in the side and was in fair condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, said Tannehill.
Earlier, a 26-year-old man was shot in the Lincoln Square neighborhood Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
Initially police said it happened near the intersection of Bell and Argyle avenues but police later said the shooting happened on the 2200 block of West Lawrence Avenue. The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his back.
Earlier, a 35-year-old man was seriously wounded Wednesday afternoon in a shooting on the West Side in the city's West Garfield Park neighborhood.
Shortly after 12:15 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 4500 block of West Wilcox Street, police said. Preliminary information said the victim was standing outside when a gray sedan pulled up, and someone inside of the vehicle fired shots in his direction.
The man suffered wounds to the chest and torso, said police, citing preliminary information. He was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
No one was in custody for the attack and police were investigating.
