Dexter Manley, the legendary black defensive end dubbed as the "Secretary of Defense," made an insipid racist joke about black quarterbacks on live television tonight. Manley stated in a discussion about blacks at the 1 position are more mobile with penchant for rushing out of the pocket: "Most of the black quarterbacks, they like running, because they're probably used to running from the (cops) laws."

Dexter Manley, the legendary defensive end dubbed as the "Secretary of Defense," made an insipid racist joke about black quarterbacks on live television tonight. Manley stated in a discussion about blacks at the 1 position are more mobile with penchant for rushing out of the pocket: "Most of the black quarterbacks, they like running, because they're probably used to running from the laws."

The white panelist in the discussion sitting next to Manley laughed for either two reasons: maybe from nervous laughter that this man sitting next to him is really that stupid; he thought it was funny because he subscribes to that brand of corny racial humor that white supremacists just enjoy.  Either way, this is not a good look for Dexter, the NFL, nor to aspiring young black quarterbacks who hear this.
